A Trip to Splitsville: Ellie Goulding and Skrillex Call It Quits

Seems like Ellie Goulding needs to embark on a new search for a prince pretty soon!

The British star, 25, has broken up with Skrillex, her electro music producer boyfriend. Back in Feb., news broke that the two musically inclined individuals were romantically involved. A source said on the split:

“It’s over. There’s no bad blood. Just a classic case of long distance being impossible. They hope to remain good friends.”

True enough, Skrillex and Golding did try to keep things going between them, even if Goulding was in the UK and Skrillex was in Los Angeles. Another source explained:

“It just happened. Their schedules are just too crazy. Work schedules and distance took their toll. She’s fine though.”

When she was interviewed for TIME, back in August, Goulding showed her appreciation for her then-beau, saying:

“I think we influence each other — not necessarily in music, but in the way that any couple would influence each other. One of the reasons that we first liked each other is that we’re both very motivated and we work really hard. We just want to make good music and tour and I think, you know, we motivate each other.”

She added:

“We were good mates before we became a couple and we’re both really big fans of each other.”

Well, we hope that they still stay “good mates” despite their break up!

Ellie Goulding Opens Up About Her Love Life

Seems like Ellie Goulding has found her match in Skrillex!

The 25-year-old “Lights” singer and the 24-year-old Grammy Award-winning dubstep artist met through email late 2011, and since then, the two musicians have kind of developed how they feel for each other. Ellie says in an interview:

I think we influence each other — not necessarily in music, but in the way that any couple would influence each other. One of the reasons that we first liked each other is that we’re both very motivated and we work really hard. We just want to make good music and tour and I think, you know, we motivate each other.

She adds:

We were good mates before we became a couple, and we’re both really big fans of each other.

Goulding, who had the honor of performing for Prince William and Kate Middleton at their wedding reception in April 2011, shares that she and the American-born artist are bonded tightly by music, but she stresses that they don’t interfere with each other’s work. She tells:

I play him my new stuff he plays me his new stuff, and it probably has influenced me subconsciously. And maybe my stuff has influenced him subconsciously. I don’t know. But he’s a very talented producer. He’s really good at what he does.

Awww, surely we hope this romance leads to the “I dos!”
