Floor-Length Frocks: Katy Perry and Selena Gomez Shimmer at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball

After the American Music Awards last week, we drew a conclusion that shimmery ensembles always make it to best-dressed lists—especially these days.

Yes, maybe it’s because of the holidays. We’re seeing many celebrities donning shimmering dresses, sparkly but definitely not eyesores. In fact, most of the frocks being paraded are eye candies.

At the UNICEF Snowflake Ball, we picked two celebrities who outshone everyone else literally with their shimmery, floor-length frocks: pop-culture princesses Selena Gomez and Katy Perry.

Okay, what were they wearing?

Selena Gomez

Selena wore a sparkly black halter Dolce and Gabbana gown with shimmering details on the front down through the hem. The gown also had a soft train, which made it more elegant. Selena completed her look with a matching black clutch bag. For her jewelry, she opted for ruby earrings.

Katy Perry

Drama in blue. Katy also wore a halter gown. Hers was a midnight blue beaded creation by Naeem Khan which featured a dramatic cape and beaded belt. Katy accentuated her shimmery ensemble with a pair of blue sapphire and diamond earrings and a cuff that perfectly matched her gown to the point of gush on our part. She completed her look with a blue satin clutch bag.

The shimmer definitely caught our eye, but it was the train and the cape that provided the drama for Selena and Katy’s dress, respectively.

The holiday season is just beginning. We look forward to more shimmery winners like these as the happy days roll in.

Selena Gomez Hates Bieber’s Boys on the Bus Scene

Seems like Selena Gomez is not game to be around too many boys!

She might really love Justin Bieber, but it seems like there are things she just can’t do for the 18-year-old heartthrob. One of those things? Going near his tour bus.

During her guest appearance  on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show, Gomez, 20, explains that though she loves visiting her boyfriend while he tours around, she won’t get into his bus no matter what. She says:

“Too much boys in one bus. It gets [to be] too much.”

And although this might seem odd to the couple’s friends and family, they definitely know that Bieber and Gomez can last longer than two years. Bieber’s mom talks of Selena:

“I love Selena. She’s a sweetheart. What you see is how she is. She’s good for him. They’re good together. They’re adorable.”

Well, it won’t be surprising if these two end up on the altar together!


One-Way PDA: A Belieber Tries to Kiss Justin Bieber!

Is a Belieber trying to break Jelena?

While in London, a rather overzealous fan of Justin Bieber tried to grab the pop star, 18, in an attempt to kiss the singer on the cheek. Though the Belieber with a purple bow on her hair was smiling , Justin didn’t look so comfortable with the one-way PDA.

Meanwhile, Bieber recently had a chat with Ryan Seacrest and revealed that he doesn’t like being called a heartthrob! He doesn’t want to be “another teen heartthrob” and that the label of him being that “annoys” him. He adds:

“To think that’s what people will think of me—I just want to prove people wrong.”

Wanna know what he really wants? A Grammy!

“That something that I’ve always—when I was little, like, ‘Oh, my God, like what if I won a Grammy? That would be crazy,’” he recalls. “So that’s one of the things that I’m still striving for.”

Well, looks like there’s nothing impossible when you’re Justin Bieber!

Selena Gomez Brings Justin Bieber’s Siblings to the Red Carpet

Justin Bieber must be so proud to be her boyfriend!

Why? Because Selena Gomez, 20, brought Bieber’s little brother and sister, Jaxon and Jazmyn, along with her to the Toronto International Film Festival to see the premiere of her animated movie, Hotel Transylvania! At some point at the red carpet, she even carried little Jaxon and said:

“I’ve got everybody!”

Two-year-old Jaxon wore a really cute shirt-and-tie outfit. He was running around, probably amused by all the lights and big costumes in the place. Meanwhile, his older sister, 4-year-old Jazmyn, looked pretty calm as she stood beside Selena in her light blue dress.

Although Justin Bieber himself was not around, surely his siblings made the paparazzi swoon even more!

Selena Gomez Talks About Her New Film, Spring Breakers

Selena Gomez is definitely not-so-Disney anymore!

Her indie movie, Spring Breakers, was shown at a very packed Ryerson Theater in Canada. In the movie, we see a Selena you’ve never seen before. She’s one of four girls (the others are Vanessa Hudgens, PLL’s Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine) whose spring break in Florida get a little complicated when they encounter the character of James Franco, a gangster drug-dealer.

Although Selena is already 20, it’ll still take a while for people to get used to seeing her smoke a cigarette, “hitting off a bong,” and walking around in her undies. However, she explains:

“I absolutely do everything for my fans and they mean so much to me…but this is something that I did for me. I really want to break out a little and see how I can stretch myself.”

Lastly, she warns that, unfortunately, her kiddy and teenage fans won’t be able to watch the flick as it may be a little inappropriate for them:

“Don’t go see it unless you’re 18 and over.”

Well, sorry, mini Selena fans!
