Russell Brand Aids Homeless Man in Los Angeles

Who said celebrities don’t know how to give back?

Russell Brand, who had his share of substance abuse experience, was spotted helping out a homeless man in LA over the weekend.

According to the Daily Mail, Brand, 37, was about to leave his yoga class when he saw the unidentified man in an alley. Right away, the actor/comedian walked over to him and gave him a bottle of water and had small talk. Afterwards, he gave the homeless man a shirt to cover up. Brand then offered the guy a ride, with reporters overhearing him saying that he was taking the man to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

It can be remembered that since 2002, Brand has been sober. He was previously an alcoholic, sex addict, and heroin user. He started making a recovery since attending yoga classes and AA meetings and doing regular meditation.

Russell Brand Spotted Visiting Ginger Spice’s Home

Just last Wednesday, Russell Brand was caught on camera visiting Geri Halliwell, a.k.a. Ginger Spice’s London home!

The British comedian, 37, is being romantically linked to the former Spice Girl, 40. Brand and the single mom were spotted bonding backstage at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, then afterwards, photographed hanging out at Hampton Court Palace with the singer’s 6-year-old daughter. An insider spills:

“Russell and Geri are just friends and have been out a few times of late. A few media are prematurely reporting that they are in a serious relationship, [but it's] a little early for all that type of speculation.”

Another source says:

 ”They’re testing the waters. It’s very early days.”

Russell Brand Speaks About Failed Marriage With Katy Perry

Russell Brand, 37, appeared on his very first interview after finalizing divorce from Katy Perry last Wednesday. The actor meekly said:

 She’s a good person, I’ve got nothing but love for her.

He said of their wedding on October 23, 2010 in India:

I loved her so much, it just seemed like the sensible thing to do [when we got married] … I just loved her so much.

However, after 14 months, he realized that:

This isn’t really working out, it’s a difficult situation … I was really, really in love with her, but it was difficult to see each other … We were together when it was right to be together, and when it wasn’t we worked it out … It was a lovely relationship … it mostly didn’t work for practical reasons … We did work it out, she’s happy, I’m happy.

Alongside, he explained that their long distance relationship made it too difficult for the two.

 She’s young, successful and dedicated. The reality is you can’t fully understand it until you do it. I was really into the idea of marriage and having children.

He admitted that he and ex-wife Katy did talk about starting a family, but he refused to share any info about it.

I don’t want anything to hurt her. She’s younger than me, she’s a young woman and she’s beautiful and she’s sensitive and I care about her deeply … I don’t want to be too glib. She’ll read it and she’ll be sad and I don’t want that.

However, the star did admit that he is currently dating Isabella Brewster, actress Jordana Brewster’s younger sister.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand Officially Divorced

Katy Perry and Russell Brand are officially single and ready to mingle.

Although the couple’s divorce request was granted last February, they weren’t really single until last Monday, a newspaper confirms. According to California’s law, a divorce cannot be finalized until a minimum of six months has passed.

27-year-old Perry and 37-year-old Brand got hitched on October 23, 2010 in a traditional Indian ceremony. On December 30 last year, the British comedian blindsided the “Teenage Dream” singer by filing for divorce after just 14 months of being married. Perry admitted in her life movie Katy Perry: Part of Me:

Being in love is a dream, but the reality is not like the movies. There’s a lot more compromise and sacrifice.

In her attempt to make her marriage last, the hit singer would fly to wherever her husband was working just to be able to spend time with him. She told the camera:

I’m trying to keep my marriage alive.

When news of her divorce broke out, an obviously upset Perry said:

The truth is I’m a romantic and I believed in the fairy tale. . .I did everything I could but it still failed.  The dream of being in love is a lot different than the reality of making it work.

The former couple also had arguments over having a baby and starting a family of their own. Perry thinks that “a baby can’t have a baby” and she’s “still a baby,” while Brand thinks that he “feels there’s no point in being married if you don’t have kids.”

Finally, Brand told Ellen:

I still love her as a human being. But, sometimes when you’re in a relationship I suppose it doesn’t work out, does it? But that doesn’t mean I regret it or anything.

Katy Perry Was Not Ready to Have Children with Russell Brand

Katy Perry fans that watch the singer’s movie, Katy Perry: Part of Me, will see more than candies, lollipops, and popcorn in 3D.

Between peeks at concert performances, the 27-year-old hints multiple times about the ups and downs of her marriage to Russell Brand. She admitted that starting a family often became the root of an argument. In backstage footage, Russell sends Katy a photo of Ronald McDonald and jokingly says they should name their first boy child Ronald. A few minutes after the incident, the “E.T.” singer spills that having children is not anywhere on her list. She says:

“A baby can’t have a baby, and I’m still a baby.”

Added to this, a source close to Brand, 37, confirms that starting a family was indeed a touchy subject for the couple, who split up last December after just 14 months of marriage. The source admits:

 ”[Russell] feels there’s no point in being married if you don’t have kids. These days, he is ready to move on.”

Katy probably still wants to live her “Teenage Dream” while she’s still “Wide Awake.”
