Although his wife, Katie Holmes, apparently gave him divorce papers as a birthday gift, actor Tom Cruise still has a reason to celebrate his 50th birthday.
The actor took an early morning flight from Iceland to California to celebrate his birthday, only to be surprised by Forbes’ list of Highest Paid Actors of 2012. Apparently, the actor made it all the way to the top of the list.
From May 2011 until May 2012, Tom earned a whopping $75 million. This placed him $38 million above Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Sandler, who tied for second place with estimated income of $37 million each during the same period, according to Forbes. Although Rock of Ages was not a very big hit, Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol earned about $700 million around the world, and the golden actor received a portion of the profit.
Maybe his growing fortune and multiple box office hits will rev him up in court as he fights for custody of his 6-year-old daughter, Suri. He is reportedly worth an estimated $250 million, while Katie Holmes, 33, is only worth $25 million.
Is the phrase, “Money can’t buy you everything” still true for the actor? With that whooping amount of money, we’re not so sure.
