Mostly, 38-year-old Kate Beckinsale is secured about where she is in her life and with the inevitable aging process in general. However, she reveals in a recent magazine interview that the only thing that makes her feel truly old is her teenage daughter Lily, 13.
I haven’t been embarrassing [to somebody] before. I can’t dance at a party where there are teenagers without [them] clearing the dance floor.
She jokes:
Those are the things that make me go, ‘F—, I’m old’ . . . you’re a parent [and] everyone leaves.
Well aside from that, Beckinsale says she’s absolutely fine with getting older. She muses:
What is it about a woman being in her late 30s that brings out the ‘Oh my gosh, are you worried?’ questions? Worried? What about? 38, 39, 40, 50! Great! Still alive!
She also adds that it’s not like she has “experienced a full facial collapse.” Gladly saying that the recent years have been quite kind to her and her body, she shares:
I haven’t suddenly gained 20 pounds that won’t go away, or [grown] a beard. That probably will happen, but it hasn’t yet.
If anything, getting older has made Kate feel a lot more and not less beautiful. She reveals:
Feeling attractive didn’t come until I was 29 and with Len [Wiseman, her husband of nearly eight years]. At that time it was partly perceived as if I’d gone all Hollywood, but it wasn’t like that at all. It was just okay for me to walk around and feel feminine and attractive. I like feeling liberated like this.
Oh, if only all women were like you, Kate.
