Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt came face to face with the actor’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston at the 2009 Academy Awards last night – the first time the trio attended the same event since Aniston and Pitt’s divorce in 2005.

Aniston, wearing a sequined Valentino dress, skipped the red carpet but presented the Best Animated Feature award alongside Jolie’s Kung Fu Panda co-star Jack Black. Black joked that all Pixar films win Oscars, and Aniston said, “I apologize Mr. Katzenberg [Jeffery Katzenberg, the co-founder of Dreamworks], I don’t know why we let him out of the house.”

The camera cut to Jolie and Pitt, who were sitting in the front row. The couple laughed and clapped throughout Aniston’s presentation. Aniston and her date, boyfriend John Mayer, sat only 12 seats away from Jolie and Pitt.

Angelina Jolie has allegedly come up with a plan to upstage Jennifer Aniston at the Oscars on Sunday. The pair will reportedly come face-to-face for the first time since Aniston’s divorce from Brad Pitt and his romance with Jolie began.

Sources say Jolie plans to outshine Aniston with a $20 million diamond necklace. “She’s been driving all of the high-end jewelers of New York crazy. She’s looking for the impossible – a drop dead gorgeous $20 million diamond necklace to wear to the Oscars,” says an insider. “She really wants it to be a show-stopper and is making sure that she is the one everyone has their eyes on this Sunday – and not Jennifer Aniston.”

Meanwhile, Jolie and Pitt are both nominated for an Oscar. Jolie is up for Best Actress for her role in Changeling while Pitt is nominated for Best Actor for his role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

When asked by a group of Canadian bloggers, whom would race car driver Danica Patrick want to play her in a movie she replied.

“I’ve always said Angelina Jolie would be great because she’s an action star,” Patrick, 26, told a group of Canadian bloggers. “Although I don’t quite look like her,” Patrick goes on.

What about Jennifer Aniston?

“I don’t think that’d be age appropriate,” she says of the He’s Just Not That Into You star, who just celebrated her 40th birthday. “She’s older than me!”

Jennifer Aniston has allegedly “never been more ready” to meet Angelina Jolie. The pair have kept their distance from one another, never attending the same events, since 2005 when Aniston’s ex-husband Brad Pitt began a relationship with Jolie only months after the divorce was finalized.

Aniston and Jolie will reportedly come face-to-face at the Night Before the Oscars party. Sources say Aniston, who is now dating John Mayer, is ready for the meeting.

“She has always known that this moment would happen and she’s never been more ready to see her nemesis, Angie, in the flesh. She’s no longer alone – she has a hot man in her life – John Mayer – and she plans to bring him as her date to the party. Jen has felt much more confident since getting back together with John last year after their brief split,” says an insider.

“It’s taken time, but she’s getting past her insecurities about Brad and Angie and their huge happy family. Though the meeting is sure to be difficult, Jen knows it has to happen and now couldn’t be better timing,” the source adds.

So how do Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie feel about running into Jennifer?

“They’ve shown up for every major awards show and have every intention of enjoying themselves at the party,” an insider tells OK!. “They don’t consider it Jen’s turf.”
