Katy Perry Turns Down $20 Million Offer from American Idol

She said no?!

According to some insiders, the producers of American Idol wanted Katy Perry, 27, on the show as a judge so bad that they offered the pop star a whopping $20 million dollars for a season-long contract. An insider shares,

“She was being hotly pursued. They really wanted her.”

Unfortunately, though, the “Wide Awake” singer declined the offer, making Mariah Carey still the highest-paid judge among all music competition shows in America.

A.I. executives are still searching for replacements for Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson, who will be vacating his seat this year to play the “mentor role.” With Mariah Carey officially on board, there are rumors about music stars Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, Nick Jonas, and Pharrell Williams joining the show. Well, those are just rumors. As of now, nothing has been confirmed yet.

Well, probably judging other performers isn’t exactly Katy’s teenage dream.

Nick Jonas and Pharrell Williams Considered Judges for A.I.

We know that Mariah Carey is taking over Jennifer Lopez’s place, but who will fill the spot of A.I. judges Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson?

Multiple insiders say that singer Nick Jonas, 19, and rapper Pharrell Williams, 39, are topping the lists of people to fill in the two empty seats at the judges’ panel. Meanwhile, Jackson, 56, will be having a “mentoring role.”

One of the insiders spills:

Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge.  They flew him in to L.A. last week for final meetings.

Jonas ended his four-month engagement in Broadway’s How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying recently, and a source says that the producers of American Idol “think that he can help bring that younger demo to the show.”

Williams, who has produced hit records for celebrities like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Gwen Stefani, is currently working and negotiating on the terms of his contract. Another insider shares:

Everything is looking good, but they’re still working out details.

Fox reps are yet to comment on the rumor.

Long-time host Ryan Seacrest, 37, is still hosting the show, which premieres this winter.
