He stood a real fat chance.

Ryan Gosling says he could have been a member of the 90s boyband, the Backstreet Boys. You see, the heartthrob is an alumnus of the Mickey Mouse Club, which produced the likes of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

Ryan lived together with AJ McLean, a member of the Backstreet Boys. At the time, the boyband was still in the process of being formed. And he and his friends didn’t really believe the group would make it big. He shares:

“When I was doing the Mickey Mouse Club we were living in the same place as that guy A.J from the Backstreet Boys.

“And so he was always talking about the Backstreet Boys, but they were just forming that band so he was saying how big they were going to be, and he had a poster of them in his house.

“We were like, “that’s never going to happen.”

Eventually, the BSB boat sailed without Ryan Gosling—churned out hits for shrieking girls and sold out a few albums. But does that mean he was left out? No. He went on to score big roles, starred in The Notebook, and is now one of the most popular actors in Hollywood. A certified heartthrob!

Do you think Ryan missed out on something because he didn’t become a Backstreet Boy?
