It’s going to be a sparkly spectacle of a ride. If you’re in for some nostalgia, this will be the perfect show for you. There’s some buzz about the much-loved 1992 Disney animated movie, Aladdin, coming to Broadway in the near future.
We won’t be seeing our Persian hero until after our beloved nanny Mary Poppins closes her umbrella in March. Reportedly, the New Amsterdam Theatre will be undergoing some renovations for the musical extravaganza. And it looks like the show won’t be opening until the spring of 2014.
The musical features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Tim Rice and Howard Ashman. Aladdin won two Academy Awards, for best original score and best original song for A Whole New World, which was sung by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga.
