Taylor Swift is opening up about her love life… and she doesn’t do it through a song.
The 22-year-old country singer has been happily dating 18-year-old boyfriend Conor Kennedy for almost three months now, but some critics still can’t seem to get past the couple’s four-year age gap.
Taylor, who appears on the cover of Rolling Stone’s latest issue, has one answer for that:
“The way I look at love is you have to follow it, and fall hard, if you fall hard.”
She continues:
“You have to forget about what everyone else thinks. It has to be an us-against-the-world mentality. You have to make it work by prioritizing it, and by falling in love really fast, without thinking too hard.”
Swift adds:
“I have rules for a lot of areas of my life. Love is not going to be one of them.”
In the interview, Taylor also gives her side of the story regarding the rumor that she crashed a Kennedy family wedding in August. The “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer says:
“I have no idea what happened there… I think that story was based on the biggest misunderstanding, ’cause I would never knowingly show up somewhere that I thought I wasn’t invited to… And I would never want to upstage anybody.”
In response to another crazy rumor that Taylor allegedly “kidnapped” Conor when he visited her in Nashville, the singer says:
“How did I kidnap him? You can’t kidnap a grown man! These are serious accusations, now! It’s an interesting way to spin something into a story.”
The kidnapping story is definitely far-fetched, but there’s one thing wrong about Taylor’s answer—Conor’s still in high school… he’s hardly a grown man.
