Television icon Andy Griffith died at his home in North Carolina this morning.
The actor was 86 years and is best known for his self-titled show, The Andy Griffin Show. The news hit home for actor/director Ron Howard, who stared with Andy when he was a child. He took to Twitter to express his sadness over the loss of the television icon.
“His pursuit of excellence and the joy he took in creating served generations and shaped my life. I’m forever grateful. RIP, Andy.”
Andy was also honored with the Presidential Medal of Honor by President Bush.
