The we-almost-had-sex-but-we’re-Mormon themes run strong in the Twilight series, so it’s no surprise that the original sex scene that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson shot was cut and redone.
“[There are MPAA] guidelines on thrusting intercourse,” Bill Condon told Celebuzz of the original scene shot for the PG-13 film. “[Kristen] got very into it.”
Not only is the Twilight series teen-intended, but the scene itself, “was so much more about romance than it was about hot-and-heavy action,” Condon told MTV.com – so, taking out the part that would give it an ‘R’ rating “was a very kind of simple adjustment to make.”
Yes, a lame adjustment to be sure. But, PG-13 films make a boatload of money, so I feel it.
