Sources close to Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez are speaking out about the couple’s relationship on the heels of their shocking split. Insiders tells Us Weekly magazine that Anthony’s controlling attitude was likely a factor in the demise of their 7-year marriage.

“Marc has always been a very dominating husband,” a source tells Us. “He wants to control everything Jennifer does.”

“He would make her feel terrible about herself if she wanted to wear something sexy. He likes her to dress in a demure, ‘wife’ style. He hated the fact that she was a sex symbol,” adds another insider.

In a joint statement released last Friday, Anthony and Lopez said their split was amicable.

“We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time,” they told People magazine.

Anthony, 42, and Lopez, 41, are continuing with plans to star together on the upcoming Latin reality show Q’Viva. “Q’Viva!, the hotly anticipated 2012 celebration of Latin music, artistry and dance, is set to film this autumn in South America with Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony as previously announced,” an XIV Entertainment rep told Us Weekly magazine.

“Both Jennifer and Mark are committed to the Q’Viva! project and will work on it as planned. The show goes on!”

Lopez and Anthony were married in June 2004 and welcomed twins Max and Emme in February 2008.
