The mother of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s love child has been identified as 50-year-old Mildred Baena. Baena reportedly worked as a housekeeper and assistant for Schwarzenegger and Shriver for more than 20 years. Baena and Schwarzenegger’s son is said to be around 14-years-old.

Schwarzenegger released a statement Tuesday confirming he fathered a child with a member of his household staff. He revealed the indiscretion to Shriver after leaving the office of governor of California in January.

“After leaving the governor’s office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago. I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry,” he said.

Shriver also released a statement.

“This is a painful and heartbreaking time,” she said. “As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal. I will have no further comment.”

Schwarzenegger, 63, and Shriver, 55, wed in 1986 and have four children. The couple announced their split last week.
