Katie Holmes is suing American Media Inc., owner of Star Magazine and is seeking damages of $50 million.

Holmes and her legal team were enraged to see Star magazine’s cover this past January featuring the actress under the headline “ADDICTION NIGHTMARE – Katie DRUG SHOCKER! – The Real Reason She Can’t Leave Tom.”

Holmes’ rep claims the cover and feature suggest that she uses drugs, while Star magazine says they never actually said she’s a drug user. Holmes’ attorney tells TMZ”

“Star Magazine’s malicious claims about Katie are untrue, unethical and unlawful. Not only do they cruelly defame Katie, they play a cheap trick on the public, making ridiculously false claims on the cover unsupported by anything inside.”
