Jewel is going to become a mother. The 36-year-old tells People magazine she is in her second trimester of pregnancy. The baby will be the first child for Jewel and her husband of 2 years, rodeo star and former Dancing with the Stars contestant Ty Murray.
Jewel admits to People that she and Murray have struggled to conceive since tying the knot in the Bahamas in 2008.
“I have always been a workaholic, so I had to learn how to slow down and take care of myself in a different way,” she says.
The singer says she discovered she was pregnant on the first day of filming Bravo’s upcoming reality show ‘Going Platinum.’ Jewel co-hosts the show with former ‘American Idol’ judge Kara DioGuardi.
“It was so hard to keep it a secret. I was worried I’d start throwing up on set and everyone would be like, ‘Oh, she’s pregnant,’” she says. For now, Jewel says she is “trying to be in the moment and really enjoy my pregnancy.”
