Tracy Morgan underwent a kidney transplant on December 10 and is recovering nicely.

“Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery,” says the actor’s rep, adding that Morgan is “looking forward to going back to work after the holidays.”

Morgan, who was recently spotted at a New York Knicks game, will miss two episodes of 30 Rock. According to insiders, some kind of “happy news” will explain his character’s absence. No other details were available.

Morgan was diagnosed with diabetes in 1996 but has admitted he did not take his condition seriously. After getting very sick, Morgan said he realized the seriousness of diabetes.

“The doctor was like, `Hey, listen, we may have to take your foot.’ That was it for me. Now I take my insulin every day. My blood sugar doesn’t get over 120,” he said.
