A Disney spokesperson says the company supports actress Demi Lovato’s decision to stop work and seek treatment for “emotional and physical issues.”
“We support Demi’s decision to put her health first and we send her our best wishes,” the Disney rep told People magazine.
Lovato’s rep said Lovato has been dealing with the issues “for some time.”
A source close to the actress says she struggles with eating disorders and self mutilation, but Lovato’s father believes it is simply the “pressures” of Hollywood that drove her to seek treatment.
“There are a lot of pressures,” Patrick Lovato told RadarOnline. “That is one of the things I worried about when she signed with Disney.”
