After two weeks of receiving low scores for what judges said were stiff performances, Michael Bolton was sent packing on last night’s Dancing with the Stars results show. Following his awkward cha cha on week 1, the singer vowed to step up his game and improve, but he didn’t succeed with Monday’s jive to Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog.”
He started off the jive by crawling out of a dog house wearing a spotted coat while partner Chelsie Hightower shook a dog bone in his face. Bolton couldn’t seem to get comfortable on the dance floor and remained stiff throughout the entire routine. Judge Len Goodman said Bolton needed a “pooper scooper” to complete the performance. Bruno Tonioli was even harsher with his criticism, telling the Grammy winner that it was “the worst jive in 11 seasons.” Bolton received the lowest score of the season so far – 12 out of 30 points.
Bolton, 57, was not happy with Bruno’s remark and called him out before the elimination results were revealed.
“Last night, Bruno was inappropriate and disrespectful,” Bolton said. “Other than that, it was a phenomenal experience.”
After Tom Bergeron revealed the results, Bolton said he was “disappointed” to be going home, but was happy to have met “wonderful, warm, sincere…and gracious people.”
The remaining contestants are: The Situation, Audrina Patridge, Florence Henderson, Brandy, Margret Cho, Rick Fox, Kurt Warner, Jennifer Grey, Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin.
