Michael Douglas Opens Up About Throat Cancer

In the new issue of People magazine, Michael Douglas opens up about being diagnosed with throat cancer and battling the disease. The 65-year-old actor reveals doctors found a tumor at the base of his in early August after he experienced persistent pain in his throat and ears.

“It’s a fight,” says Douglas, who stars next opposite Shia LaBeouf in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

Douglas is undergoing an intense set of radiation and chemotherapy. “It really knocks you out,” he says of treatment.

His wife, actress Catherine Zeta Jones says seeing the side effects of treatment is “the hardest part,” but knows “if there’s anything Michael has, it’s strength.”

“I’ll beat this,” Douglas adds.
