Actress Kate Winslet and her director husband Sam Mendes have announced they have separated after nearly seven years of marriage.

According to a statement released by lawyers, “Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year.” The statement continued, “Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family.”

Winslet, 34, and Mendes, 44, have one child together while the actress also has a daughter from her first marriage to Jim Threapleton, a marriage that lasted three years.
