Jeremy Piven of HBO’s “Entourage,” has quit the Broadway revival of “Speed-the-Plow,” which also stars “Mad Men’s” Elisabeth Moss, due to “high mercury count.” Piven has informed the producers that he hasn’t been feeling well and that the condition is attributable to a high mercury count. A skeptical David Mamet, who wrote “Speed-the-Plow,” was quoted in Variety as saying that he understands Piven “is leaving show business to pursue a career as a thermometer.”

A spokeswoman for the actor said he wanted to continue in the role but that doctors advised him he should end his run immediately.
