When somebody blows up and gets famous, everyone always comes out of the woodwork to hate on them. Michael Phelps was being interviewed about his reported relationship with fellow swimmer Amanda Beard. Michael said:
“No, I’m not dating Amanda Beard. I’ll say that. I think she has a boyfriend.” When asked if he’s single, he responds, “Part of my life is kept to myself. I’m able to relax and be with my friends. Those pretty much are the only people who really know the answer to that question.”
In response, Amanda replied:
“Eww, that’s nasty… I have never, ever hooked up with Michael Phelps,” Beard said via telephone from Beijing on the “Johnjay and Rich Show,” which is broadcast on Kiss FM 104.7 in Phoenix.
“Come on, I have really good taste,” Beard said. “He’s really not my type.”
Ouch! Damn, leave the dude alone! Later Amanda threw out some type of “apology” claiming that she was joking and took it too far. Riiiiight. I think she’s just hating because she didn’t win 8 gold medals.
Amanda Beard is a disgrace to all US female athletes. As a swimmer, I lost all respect for her when she posed for Playboy and used her swimming fame in a negative way. I commend Michael Phelps for being a humble athlete, and a positive role model for all young athletes. Why was she even being interviewed – she did HORRIBLE at the Olympics and won ZERO medals. Maybe if she spent more time in the pool and less time posing naked for magazines she would have had a much better meet.
